- Published by Fotokino Yūichi Yokoyama was discovered in France through his numerous books, translated and published by Éditions Matière. The term he uses to describe them, “neo-manga,” helps define what they are: comics that follow certain formal codes rooted in tradition but belong to a new genre. While Neutre presents two previously unpublished mangas, the book primarily gathers paintings, drawings, and color collages, revealing a lesser-known facet of his work. The color pieces assembled here serve as a counterpoint to the turmoil of his mangas: silent and delicate images, pop collages emerging from chaos, geometric shapes juxtaposed against a neutral background.
